March 2010

 

North side parking

27th March. The aircraft are now parked adjacent to the Portacabin on the North side of the Airport.

 

Broussard

The Broussard is now located at Bruntingthorpe for completion by Beechcraft Restorations. The fuselage is complete and due into the paint shed shortly. Following this the wings will be re-attached and painted.

 

FW 190 Replica

The LAA has issued a Permit Flight Release Certificate, It was test flown on 13th April by Nigel Willson who reports a snag free flight, and a "pussy cat" to fly - lovely in the air and impeccable behaviour for the type on the ground.

 

Cessna 182

After a somewhat protracted annual and respray, (it left Norwich at the end of October!) G-BOTH is returned to Norwich on 7th April.

New PPL Matt Nicholls completed his skills test successfully on March 4th 2010.

New PPLs

Congratulations to Alex Shepard, John DiMarco and Peter Brueggemann for successfully completing their PPL skills test this month.

 

New Premises

After Top Flight ceased trading we have had to locate new premises. Early in January we signed a lease with the Airport for a plot of land and have now fenced it off with the latest standard security fencing and placed the first portacabin on site.

 

Broussard .


The Broussard purchased last year continues to make great progress. So far all of the interior of the fuselage has been treated for minor corrosion and fully corrosion proofed. New items are replacing the windscreens and new oil and fuel lines are in the process of being produced. It has been necessary to replace four stringers and this is what is currently taking up our engineer's time. The aircraft has now been re registered and we have made a request to the Portuguese Air Force for authority to put the aircraft in its original military livery. Many spares have been sourced and we have managed to contact Broussard owners in Holland, France and the USA.
